Summary: Collected monthly surface and porewater samples, the scaffold planks were out of place due to the winds from previous weekend

Erin and I arrived at Mayberry at around 9 am. There was someone in one of the RV's near the levee road. It was a sunny day with blue skies and no wind. The water level was lower than last month; the staff gauge was at 38 cm. The scaffold planks at the tower had been moved and the upper one was almost hanging from one of the sides, most likely due to the strong winds during the weekend & Monday. Erin and I put them back in place. I did not notice anything else that seemed wrong at the tower. Wetland plants are starting to turn brown.

We collected surface waters in the channels, inlet and outlet location as well as inside the wetland. There was standing water at the 0.5 footprint site only, the 0.7 site was dry.

Salinity has increased slightly since last month in surface waters +0.5 - 1 ppt, most likely due to the lower water level. Porewaters were collected at the channel at -10, -30 and -50 cm. At the wetland sites, the full porewater profile was achieved at the 0.7 footprint site only while porewater samples at the 0.5 site could only be pulled at -10 cm. The sipper kept getting clogged at deeper depths at this site.
While no changes in porewater salinity at the channel were observed, porewater salinities in vegetated soils were higher than during last month. pH seems to be decreasing in both surface and porewaters.

We processed the samples at the site and left at 4.30 pm
