Siyan and I arrive at about 10:00. It was cold and foggy with fog all through the Delta and Central Valley. About 1pm the fog lifted but it didnâ€™t seem to get any warmer. The ground seems drier than last time and the pond level seems unchanged. There is more green grass but itâ€™s still only about 5am tall.

I collected the Tower, Floor and soil CO2 data. All seemed well. The HMP45 fan at the top of the tower is a 24V fan on a 12V line. I was planning on replacing it or changing its power source but decided it was doing its job even at the lower voltage. It still would be a good idea to run a new power line for the Arable.

The thermocouple on the outside on the FLIR window has come loose and is hanging in the air. I don't know how to fix it to the window more securely or how important it is.

At the soil CO2 site the data from the CR10X near Liu Kangâ€™s tree was giving weird numbers. I was able to connect to it directly, collect all of its data and reload its program but this didnâ€™t fix the problem â€“ all of its data was wrong. I tired cycling its power but then could not connect to it at all. I thought there was nothing I could do, but just before we left I realized I had just removed another CR10X from the tower (see below). I removed the 10X silver box sn 19482 from the soil co2 CR10X and installed the silver box from the Tower sn 13214. I uploaded the program and all seemed well.

I added a DB9 serial connector to the FD Chamber under the tree so now both FD Chambers can be connected to with no special cables or rewiring. I collected the FD Chamber data but did not clear the memories.

The bad readings I saw at the FLIR cal panel last time were due to a mismatch of the program the 23x was running versus the one Loggernet on the white laptop was using. I retrieved the program from the 23x and using that in Loggernet all looked well. The grass DF Robot IRT is still in the lab.

Back at the tower I updated the CO2 Profile CR6 data loggerâ€™s program to control zcam 1 and zcam 2. I moved a screw terminal for power, a three conductor cable for zcam 1 and a two conductor cable for zcam 2 from the old CR10X box at the base of the tower to the Vaisala CO2 profile box. This wiring needs to be cleaned up but is functional. I tested the new configuration by changing the zcam start time in the program and found one bug in the program but it seemed to work after I fixed the bug. I removed the CR10X and enclosure.

We could see and smell smoke on the way out. I think it was from a controlled burn nearby.
