Bouldin Corn

Camilo and I arrived at 8:15. it was a warm and sunny day with clear skies and hazy horizons. All the corn fields I saw from the highway were unharvested. On our field, the leaves on the lower half of the plant were mostly dead, and leaves on the upper half of the plant had brown edges. The corn was fat, yellow, and had dents in the kernels. There were many small black insects and some ladybugs and spiders on the plants. There were some wasps' nests on the tower, but not too many wasps buzzing around. Tyler stopped by while we were there to check on the chambers.

Camilo took ACi curves and light-response curves on 4 corn leaves. A-Ci curves and light response curves were measured in the youngest fully developed leaves. Light response curves were done with the Li-6400XT and included measurements of fluorescence. The A/Ci curves were done with the Li-6400 using the 2x3 LED cuvette. After the curves were completed, we measured chlorophyll content, and harvested the leaf for measurements of leaf area and mass.

I took 1-wand LAI measurements facing NW, with my back to the sun.

I also took veg height and biomass measurements. After walking into the field, I picked an east-west row to start on. At that row, I measured the row spacing and the number of plants in a 1m segment of the row (starting from a plant). I then took the veg height of the plants in the first 30cm of the row segment, and harvested the first plant of the row segment. I walked west 10 steps, went 2 rows to the north, and then repeated the process. I took 5 plant samples total.

I downloaded met, camera, zcams, USB GHG, and Purple Air data and cleaned flux and rad sensors. The wash reservoir was full; I did not top it off.
