Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, water samples, did not collect camera/miniDOT data, brought bottom miniDOT and air pressure barometer back to lab for inspection/repair, water level measurements
2019-05-23 Mayberry Alex, Jiangong, and I arrived at 11:15. It was mostly cloudy (cumulus clouds), breezy, and mild. The wetland is mostly green now. The water level was 45 cm. Alex made additional measurements with a wooden meter stick: 36 cm from water surface to muck; within the plants she measured 25 cm from water surface to muck, and right next to the plants she measured 15 cm from water surface to plant roots. The water is still a bright brown color. Alex collected water samples for Isabel at 10:15 PST. Jiangong cleaned flux and rad sensors. The wash reservoir was empty; we refilled it. I collected met and USB data. The air pressure had dropped 2018-04-18 and I couldn’t figure out what was wrong, so I brought barometer sn E1330045 back to the lab. PAR_water had some nighttime noise in the last week, so I unwired/re-wired it to the same ports. I didn’t collect camera or miniDOT data b/c the SD card slot on the laptop was not working after a Windows 10 upgrade. We turned off the camera and restarted the program, because in the past we had time issues when the camera ran much longer than 2 weeks. Next time we’ll have to make sure we get the photos since 2019-05-02. We swapped the desiccant for the top miniDOT. We brought the bottom miniDOT sn 1220 back into the lab because it was damp inside (the o-ring was warped) and the tiny green LED did not blink at all. There was some corrosion on the board and the batteries were dead. Alex cleaned the fluorometer but it was hard to get all the gunk off. We changed the water level pressure sensor desiccant. LI-7500 readings: CO2 413ppm H2O 530ppm T 22.9C P 100.6kPa SS 86--> 88 after cleaning LI7700 readings: CH4 1.8ppm RSSI 30-->85 after cleaning We left at 12:10. Looking at the data back in the lab, there was a big change in fluorometer data around midnight on 2019-05-19. I'll see next time if cleaning it on 2019-05-23 affected the readings. |
