Sherman Wetland: 2018-10-18 13:40:00 (DOY 291)
Author: Joe Verfaillie
Others: Daphne, Kyle
Summary: 7500 head not plugged in last time, tested tipping bucket, replaced HMP fan, removed Eos CO2 probe.
Sherman Wetland 2018-10-18 I arrived at 13:40 with Daphne and Kyle. Gavin McNicol and Etienne Fluet-Chouinard from Stanford were with us for a tour. It was sunny and warm with little to no wind. There was water at the foot of the tower but still some spots where I could stand in hiking boots. The water level was 66cm. There are still lots of blackbirds and starlings and otters pooping on everything. We cleaned and tested the tipping bucket sn 65552-615. We connected it to a CR6 and dribbled 475ml of water through it. This should result in 100 tips – we got 94 tips. We adjusted the set screws in the bottom by one half turn clockwise (+2-3%). The 7500 was not reading because the cable was not plugged back in when it was swapped last time. Upon further inspection of the GHG files, it seems the headers got messed up and CH4 was not recorded either, so there is no CH4 data from 2018-10-04 to 2018-10-25. The 7500 read: ***ppm CO2, ***mmol/m3 H2O, 22.6C, 101.8kPa, 95SS – 97 after cleaning We didn’t write down the readings after reconnecting the head, but should be okay. The 7700 read: 2.25ppm CH4, 22RSSI – 79 after cleaning. The HMP fan wire was broken and the fan was only working intermittently. We replaced the fan. The Eos CO2 probe sn GP20140016 was railed. We pulled it out of the water and the readings did not fall to atmospheric. We removed it for testing in the lab. We left at 14:20. |
