Summary: Tested tipping bucket, water was a little low, lots of wasps.
East End 2018-10-18 I arrived at 12:30 with Daphne and Kyle. Gavin McNicol and Etienne Fluet-Chouinard from Stanford were with us for a tour. It was sunny and warm with little to no wind. The vegetation is beginning to brown at the tips. The water level was 20cm – a bit low. We cleaned and tested the tipping bucket sn 50229-112. We connected it to a CR6 and dribbled 475ml of water through it. This should result in 100 tips – we got 94 tips. We adjusted the set screws in the bottom by one half turn clockwise (+2-3%). The 7500 read: 425ppm CO2, 600mmol/m3 H2O, 22.8C, 101.9kPa, 99SS – 102 after cleaning The 7700 read: 2.32ppm CH4, 65RSSI – 71 after cleaning (pretty high CH4 - hot and no wind?) The wash reservoir was nearly full and was refilled. There is duck weed in the reservoir which needs to be cleaned out when we find a cap for it. The camera seemed to work okay. On reboot the program didn’t auto-start but needed to be started manually. The top of the conductivity probe was just poking out of the water. I lowered it a bit. There are wasps in the vertical scaffolding post just below the eddy equipment. We left at 13:00 |
