East End

We met with Kristen Manies from the USGS and some JPL folk at the Twitchell gate around 9:15. They were visiting to test out their methane drone before deploying it in Alaska later this summer. We first drove to the levee outlook at the southern edge of the island (near the trailer with the washroom) to show them the view of the subsidence. We then drove together to East End, where they set up and tested some flight paths over the East End wetland. Their CH4 readings matched ours, ~1.94 ppm.

We arrived at the site about 9:40. It was sunny and clear, with some haze from smoke along the western horizon. The water level was very low, 6cm on the staff gauge. There were some nice entrails on the upper boardwalk and in the plants below the tower.

I downloaded met, camera, and USB GHG data. Alex cleaned the flux and rad sensors. Dennis refilled the wash reservoir, where they were a few wasps.

The 7500 read: 403ppm CO2, 740mmol/m3 H2O, 24.5C, 101.3kPa, 100SS --> 101 after cleaning
The 7700 read: 1.94ppm CH4, 33RSSI â€“> 70 after cleaning.

We left at 10:25.
