Summary: Leveled scaffolding, fixed Licor GHG columns, swapped camera enclosure

2018-03-07
West Pond

Joe and I arrived at 12:40. It was mostly sunny, warm with a cool breeze, and there were low clouds near the horizon.
I collected met and USB data. The LicorGHG columns had been storing extra sonic columns. Under Site Setup, I changed the sonic connection option from SmartFlux to 7550 Analog Inputs. Hopefully the sonic data has been ok. This seemed to fix the extra columns. I checked the time sync, clocks, pressure coefficients, and that the data was logging.

The 7500 read: 442ppm CO2, 446mmol/m3 H2O, 19.4C, 101.6kPa, 97SS
The 7700 read: 2.4ppm CH4 (after Joe started walking around in the mud), 57RSSI – 77 after cleaning

Joe got in the water and raised the western side of the Scaffolding with the sheepherder’s jack to level the tower. He attached two galvanized fence post pipes to the horizontal cross bars of the scaffolding frames with 90 degree clamps and placed a concrete pier under each pipe to spread out the weight. It was difficult to place the concrete piers in the correct position since the water was about thigh-deep, cold, and mucky on the bottom.

He leveled the sonic and radiometers and took some height measurements. Top of folding boom to water level: 3.69m. Top of canopy to water level: 1.8m.

I swapped the camera enclosure since the previous one tended to collect dew on the inside and tightened its connection to the wooden post. I restarted the camera but did not collect the camera data.

We left at 15:10.
