Bouldin Alfalfa: 2017-06-05 10:25:00 (DOY 156)
Author: Joe Verfaillie
Others: Daphne
Summary: Data collection, removed downward field stop NDVI sensor, field mowed and mostly baled, need to clip around tower.
Bouldin Alfalfa 2017-06-05 I arrived about 10:25 with Daphne. It was warm and sunny with little to no breeze. The field has been mowed, raked and half baled. The alfalfa under the tower was very tall and flowery. I pulled some of it by hand but it still needs a good clipping. We met a field worker named Jacob who has just started at Bouldin in the last few months. I think he said he worked in hay on McDonald Island for like 20 years. He was impressed with the growth rate of the Bouldin Alfalfa – it’s hard to get the cut hay off before the new alfalfa grows into it. He also said it’s fine to drive the truck on the field – just don’t get stuck. The 7500 read: 395.5ppm CO2, 532.7mmol/m3 H2O, 24.3C, 101.2kPa, 103.9SS – 104.7 after cleaning The 7700 read: 2.02ppm CH4, 54.5RSSI – 78.9 after cleaning The wash reservoir was close to full We removed the downward facing SRS NDVI sensor with field stops sn 943203017. There already is a downward pointed hemispherical NDVI sensor on this tower. We left about 10:50 |
