Summary: Standard data collection, installed hemispherical NDVI for reflected light.
Bouldin Alfalfa 2017-02-01 I arrived about 12 noon. It was cold and foggy with a light breeze from the northeast. The road was not too bad. The alfalfa was 10 to 25cm high and very sparse with bare ground between the planted rows. No water in the drainage ditch. The 7700 read: 3.70ppm CH4, 45.5RSSI – 78.2 after cleaning, refilled half full wash reservoir The 7500 read: 480.4ppm CO2, 459mmol/m3 H2O, 9.6C, 101.55kPa, 78.2SS The 7500 software was initially reporting a time sync error with the 7700 but it cleared itself while I was working. I added a hemispherical Decagon NDVI sensor (sn 882103021) to the tower pointing at the ground. This is an SDI-12 sensor and was connected to the C7 port on the CR1000 with the other four Decagon SRS sensors. I am wanting to see the difference between the hemispherical sensor and the field stop sensors that have a 36 degree field of view. I think the field stop sensor does not see enough of the footprint to be representative. Decagon says the hemispherical sensor should be okay for reflected light near midday, but morning and evening values when the sun is hear the horizon might not be good. I made appropriate changes to the CR1000 program and added the new channels to the end on the data table. I cleaned the radiometers – dirty bird feet on the incoming longwave especially. |
