Summary: Water level high. Confirmed high Forerunner readings with voltmeter. All well.
West Pond 2014-08-27 We arrived about 13:20 PDT. It was hot and sunny with no wind. The site remains quite green. Water level was high. Sara took water samples at the inlet, outlet, and tower. I attended to the tower. Wasps were buzzing around but I didn’t see any nests. The Forerunner CO2 probe was fully submerged. I didn’t adjust the depth. It was still reading high, 5 V in the logger. We unplugged the leads and tested it with a voltmeter, and it read the same thing. We had planned to change the instrument from single ended to differential, but saw no need since the voltmeter confirmed the logger readings and Sara played with the data back at the lab and found that the jumps in the data were just the voltage looping over 5V as the CO2 in the water increased. 7500 readings: CO2 = 380 ppm (same after cleaning) H2O = 630 mmol m-3 (same after cleaning) signal strength = 81.75% (82.4% after cleaning) p = 101.3 kPa t = 31.7 C sos = 352.7 m s-1 7700 readings: CH4 = 1.9 ppm (same after cleaning) RSSI = 40% (81% after cleaning) Reservoir full. Met looked good. |
