Summary: Pepperweed drying out. Regular field work. Swapped out soil CO2 probe. Removed Theta 2 from Soil CO2 set. Cleaned rain gauge. Check diffuse par before/after new shadow band.

We arrived about 9:30 PDT. It was sunny, windy, and warm. The pepperweed is definitely drying out. Most plants are a dull green and the flowers are dry and yellow. I attended to the tower and did well depth while Madeline did soil respiration, Dennis did moisture point and a veg height transect, and Sara and Kathleen did LAI and spectral.

Madeline reported that soil respiration collars 1 & 2 in profile A of came out of the soil.

The soil co2 probe in profile B, -16 cm was reading high so we replaced it with another probe. Removed sn G0150035, installed sn Y0710013, both 3% probes. It was reading in the range of the corresponding sensor in profile A when we left.

Theta 2 sn 139/052 in the soil co2 data was reading negative. Removed. NOTE: After removal, the readings for Theta 2 were in the range of the other probes although there is no probe installed. Remove this data from Met.

The rain gauge was full of bird doodie. Cleaned out.

Dennis would like us to check the diffuse par readings now that it has been some time since the new shadow band was installed. Check before and after switch to see if readings are similar.

LGR readings: 1.9 ppm, 09:36, 22.2 C, 132.5 Torr (adjusted to 144.0 Torr), 14.73 us, 10 Hz

7500 readings:
CO2: 16.7 mmol m-3 (16.8 after cleaning)
H2O: 725 mmol m-3 (750 after cleaning)
P = 100.8 kPa
T = 22.1 C
Diag: 249 (same after cleaning)

Soil CO2 looked good.
Met looked good.
Cleaned rad.

Veg Height (cm): Tape measure from ground to top of plant - pepperweed dull green and flowers dry. Some spots of vibrant veg still. Grass dry.
