Summary: Site greening up. Replaced flux instrument pole with longer one, raising tower. Took water pressure reference reading.
Mayberry 2014-03-27 We arrived around 11:00 PDT. It was overcast and cool with a slight breeze from the south. The site is clearly greening. The existing tule patches are a deep green throughout and the cattail patches are green along the edges and in areas of new growth. Patty and I downloaded data and replaced the flux instrument pole with a much longer one. Added a pin to where the pole attaches to the scaffold so that the flux instruments can be raised and lowered easily. The previous pole had the mid-point of the sonic at 4.9 m high above the water surface. The new pole has the sonic at 5.7 m high and could be raised higher if needed. The sonic N is pointed at 344 N magnetic (358 N true). 7500 readings (after swapping out the pole and cleaning): CO2: 405 ppm H2O: 480 mmol m-3 signal strength = 89.4% t: 14.6 °C p = 102.0 kPa sos = 341.5 m s-1 Current 7700 readings (after swapping out the pole and cleaning): CH4 = 1.96 ppm RSSI = 82 % Topped off reservoir. Met looked great. All thermocouples were reading reasonable values. The water pressure sensor at the SE foot of the scaffold was reading 0.81 and the water height at that location was 65 cm. At the old tule tower location, the water height was 112 cm. |
