Summary: Plants growing. Regular fieldwork. Data download. Troubleshoot soil CO2. Swapped 7500

We arrived about 9:30 PDT. It was sunny, warm, and breezy. There is still a nice green grass layer and the pepperweed continues to grow.

I did spectral and moisture point while Cove did well depth and a vegetation height survey. Patty measured soil respiration and Joe and Patty worked on troubleshooting the soil CO2 system since readings from Profile A seemed strange. Joe changed the soil CO2 program so that setting flag 8 high will turn on and read the probes continuously instead of only for two minutes in the middle of the half hour. After Joe changed to program, I drove Cove and Joe to Mayberry so that they could finish the boardwalk and move the scaffold. I then drove back to Sherman to finish up the remaining tasks with Patty.

Patty removed all the Vaisala probes to test them at ambient CO2. All probes dropped to ~50-70mV while the 2cm profile A probe remained high at about 220mV. Patty deemed the 2cm probe (sn Z2720014) from Profile A dead. She re-buried the other probes and plans to replace profile A 2cm next week with new probe.
Patty also replaced the remaining broken thermocouples that had been chewed by cows. This included the 2cm depth at Profile B and the 2 and 16cm depth reference temps.

I downloaded all the data and measured the height of the 7500:

7500 height: 280 cm

I also swapped 7500s â€“ I removed sn 0418 and replaced it with sn 0976

7500 readings:
CO2: 17.01 mmol m-3 (16.83 after swapping the 7500)
H2O: 435 mmol m-3 (390 after swapping the 7500)
Diag: 247 (247 after swapping the 7500)
P = 102.3 kPa
T = 19.9 C
Sos: 342.2 m s-1 (same after swapping the 7500)

LGR readings: 2.25 ppm, 20.79 C, 155.10 Torr (adjusted to 144.25), 14.77 us, 10 Hz

Patty also installed a 20 cm theta probe sn 139/052 to replace the one that we pulled previously.
