Summary: Reinstall of the Vaisala CO2 soil profile, Two thermocouples not working.

I arrived about 9:30 with Patty. It was overcast and mild with little to no wind. No change in field conditions from last week.

We reinstalled the Vaisala CO2 profiles. We traded a couple of probes with the Tonzi profiles. Tonzi got a couple of 3% probes and Sherman got a couple of 1% probes.

Sherman Set A to the west of the data logger box got:
2cm, sn Z2720014, 1%, data logger channel 1
8cm, sn F4960019, 3%, data logger channel 2
16cm, sn G0150035, 3%, data logger channel 3

Sherman Set B to the east of the data logger box got:
2cm, sn Z2720011, 1%, data logger channel 4
8cm, sn F4960018, 3%, data logger channel 5
16cm, sn G0150037, 3%, data logger channel 6

Thermocouple #6 was replaced. PVC enclosure #5 was replaced due to missing screen. PVC enclosure #1 was missing its screen. PVC enclosure #6 had its screen re-glued in the field. We did not put the pipe insulation on the PVC tubes where they are above ground. This might still be done. We put new U-shaped fittings on the top of the tubes so that the opening is pointing down. The existing rubber plugs donâ€™t fit the new fittings well. We should cut some pipe inserts to make a better fit.

When all was done Thermocouple #4 and #5 were not reading. The CO2 mV readings were in reasonable ranges but the pattern didnâ€™t seem to match the depth profile. The soil around the tubes was disturbed so we decided to let them site a week before worrying about the readings.
