Summary: Hundreds of ants and a few wasps in datalogger box
We arrived around 11:30 local time to warm and still conditions. The corn looks very dry and a few rows of corn in the field next to the main road had been harvested, and Bruce said that our field will be harvested this week or the next. The fields to the north have the pond have been almost completely harvested, chopped and bailed.
We discovered that some critters had dug up the soil heat flux plates from where they had be re-installed under the tower so we reburied them. There were lots of ants and a few wasps in the datalogger box, and Joe discovered more ants than you could ever imagine inside the small sonic serial converter box. Joe cleaned out all of this and put lots more putty around the hole where the wires pass into the box to keep out insects. Joe also changed the number of photos taken per day by the autocam from 36 to 30. CO2 = 16.2 mmol/m3 H2O = 750 mmol/m3 SOS = 343 m/s |
