Summary: Fixed SOS problem, moved water sensors, adjusted autocam.

West Pond
2012-07-12

I arrived about 11am PDT. Jaclyn came a few minutes later as the others went to the Corn site. It was clean, sunny and hot. There was a nice breeze above the canopy, but below the canopy it was still and hot. The water level is about the same as last week and about 4 inches lower than before. Both inlets were running full flow.

I found the problem with the sonic SOS data. Analog pin 4 was loose in the sonic connector. I changed the sonic settings to output -5 to +5V using U and V at -30 to +30 m/s, W at -5 to +5 m/s and SOS at 300 to 370 m/s. I reentered the spans and offsets in the LI7550 settings: U and V a 6 and 0, W at 1 and 0, SOS at 7 and 335.

We might need to check some of the other GHG systems. I seem to remember seeing span values of 7 in some of them.

We reorganized the water sensors. The water pressure was moved to a well near the boardwalk. The water pressure sensor was 135cm below the top of the well pipe, and the pipe top was 50cm above the water level. The three temperature profiles were spread out. One is near the well, one is in the southwest corner under heavy standing litter, and the last in near the wood platform to the east of the scaffolding. There is a layer of muck than harder ground. I pushed the temperature profiles in as far as I could. We may need to measure for the water surface. The upper DO was out of the water and reading zero. We will try replacing its electrolyte next time. I remounted both DO sensors on the same post 20cm apart so that the top one was in the water. I also remounted the conductivity sensor to the post.

I set the autocam to focus at infinity.

Plugged the cable ports in the data logger box with putty.

We cleaned the LI7700 mirrors and topped off the wash reservoir. Before cleaning the RSSI was about 29 afterwards is was about 80.

I made a quick run to the corn site to set that autocam to focus at infinity and rotated it slightly to the north, to put the eddy sensor tighter against the left edge of the frame.
