I arrived about 09:00PST with Siyan. It was clear, sunny and hot with very little wind. The rains of last week have really knocked down the litter. New grass has sprouted and is about 5am tall already. It also looks like cows have been around trampling the litter a bit. There was water in the water hole and a puddle near the main road. The trees still look good. We saw a truck go pass while we were at the site.

I installed the new Stardot camera sn 0030F4D0A168 from Andrew Richarson's lab. I added a network interface card (NIC) to the computer cutting a hole in the back of the case to get access to its port. I setup the card with IP address 192.168.2.100. I installed and setup Windows FTP server (anonymous only) to receive images from the camera.

I tried to mount the camera to the tower on the top cross bar just above the existing camera, but the tap I had kept buggering the threads. I temporarily affixed it using one of the structures 1/4-20 bolts. I ran power from the SW12V port on the CR23X and an Ethernet crossover cable from the new NIC.

The cable for the weather pod that is supposed to connect to the camera was too big to fit through the enclosure's wiring fitting and the RJ45 to DB9 adapter was too long to connect to the back of the camera and still fit inside the enclosure. So I discarded the weather pod.

I can probably get all three cables (Ethernet, power, and weather pod) through the wiring fitting if I cut the shroud off the weather pod cable and put it though first and then run the other two cables before putting connectors on the ends.

After downloading all the data, I modified the CR23X program to add some code to turn the Stardot camera on 30min before sunrise and turn it off 30min after sunset.

I had to reset some of the camera's internal setting for it to work. I had set it up in the lab, but it seemed to have lost all the changes I made. I hope this doesn't happen every time it loses power.

I pointed the camera to cover the same area as the other one. I had trouble getting it to focus and didn't tighten down the adjustment rings. It seemed to be running when we left.

The LI7500 was reporting railed CO2 and H2O values. We hooked up the netbook to it and saw that it was also reporting 100% AGC (path blocked). The lenses were clean. Probably bad source or detector.

Left for Tonzi about 11:00PST

Later it occurred to me that we had a functional LI7500 with us from Frank that I had picked up a Twitchell this morning. On the way home about 15:00PST we stopped and installed Frank's LI7500. I had to remove the Licor power connector from Frank?s and feed the power connector from our box though the hole to power up Frank's LI7500 with our power cable. And I had to setup the DACs (DAC1 = H2O 0-1000, DAC2 = CO2 10-25). But, it seemed to work.
