Dennis and I arrived at about 10:15 PDT. It was clear sunny and warm but not the crazy heat of the last few weeks. I could see Mount Diablo from the tower top. The tower fence charger was on and Dennis got zapped trying to turn it off – Davis or JPL might have turned it on last week. We left the fence chargers off.

The Tower sonic has been locked up reporting fixed values within the valid ranges for the last six weeks. I didn’t see anything wrong. All the cables seemed tight. Unplugging the cable from the bottom of the sonic and plugging it back in (restart) seemed to fix it. It still had good values just before we left. I collected the Tower flux and camera data and the Floor fluxes. The Floor CO2 and H2O have been slightly offset from the tower after the last calibration swap but I didn’t see anything amiss with the config. Need to watch its next calibration.

All the windows were a bit dirty and I cleaned them before taking screen shots.

I collected the well and FD chambers data, read the dendrometers and serviced the zcams. Dennis did the soil moisture, well depths and midday leaf water potential. Dennis had trouble with the Tower well. When I tried the well meter was acting funky but I finally got it to work – might test it in the lab.

I collected all the point dendrometer data and we installed the last two TOMST units. Unit sn 92243041 went on a medium sized pine to the east of the tower. It read 1812um when I checked it and the tree circumference was 117.3cm. The trunk is not very round a little wavy. Unit sn 92243046 went on cluster tree 7. That tree’s circumference was 89cm. I read the dendrometer but didn’t write down its value – I think I was about 1200um.

I checked on SHF #4 that seems to be upside down. I dug down to the plate and saw that it was installed in the correct orientation. I refilled the hole but the soil is hard and crumbly. I ended up swapping the wires at the AM25T. Both plate 4 and 5 are wired with black H and red L.

The Davis SIF system was beeping plaintively. I talked the Troy on the phone and reset their inverter. Power came back on but I didn’t see the camera move. Troy will be out to check on it in the next week.
