Joe and I arrived at 13:05 PST (14:05 PDT) for a maintenance visit. It was warm and sunny with a cool breeze from the southwest. The wetland is still mostly brown, maybe about 25% green with mostly dark green tules. The weeds on the levee roads are super happy, though. Joe trimmed back lots of weeds (including pepperweed) around our solar panel and path from the car. Someone has filled in the potholes by the gas pipeline.

The channel’s water looked less turbid today; I could actually see at least 10cm into the water. The staff gauge read 31cm.

I removed CTD sn H21G200002263 because its depth data is not working. It’s been installed for only a few months, so I want to send it back to the factory to get a replacement under warranty. I reconnected VWC_0 (17130) to the datalogger (it had some sort of SDI-12 conflict w/ the CTD even though they had different SDI-12 addresses), which worked fine now that I removed the CTD.

Kyle asked us to push ~60ml of surface water into clogged sippers: black-white, black-red, red-red, and red-yellow. The “black-red” sipper had a single green tape on it, I’ll try to bring more electrical tape to label it correctly next time. The red-red sipper was totally clogged and we couldn’t push much water either in or out. The other three sippers flushed fine.

The cattails continue to spread into the channel. Joe thought we should move the West Pond scaffolding here, set it up about 1-2m closer to the channel, then move all of our sensors to the new scaffolding. We’ll have to figure out a way to extend the boardwalk pathway to the new scaffolding.

We left at 13:35 PST (14:35 PDT).
