Summary: Standard field work, close to the end of midday water potential

Daphne and I arrived at 12:30 PDT. It’s hazy and hot and smells like smoke. The smokiness lifted with a variable on-shore breeze. The smoke is coming from the Quarry Incident fire in Stanislaus National Forest. The pond looks almost as low as last year. The trees are definitely turning yellow and brown.

I collected the flux and camera images from the tower top before it was time for midday water potential. It’s getting hard to find sprigs without brown or damaged leaves.

Daphne did the soil moisture, tree dendrometers, well measurements and serviced the z-cams. She replaced the 9V battery in the well meter as the meter was misbehaving. She said the new battery made it better.

After water potential I collected the Floor flux and well data and the FD data. The Floor data is missing some early morning data. The current Floor batteries came used from the Tower. I’ll check them next time out but will probably need to replace them before winter really gets started.

The Tower read: 406.3ppm CO2, 591.8mmol/m3 H2O, 27.1C, 98.9kPa, 96.1SS
After cleaning: 425.2ppm CO2, 491.0mmol/m3 H2O, 26.9C, 98.9kPa, 102SS

I gathered up a spool of coax cable from the old MD9 network. I should need to come up with a todo list as there will be some extra hands next visit.
