Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, water level sensor NAN--needs swap, power flickering--fixed maybe

West Pond

Ngoc and I arrived at 14:20 PDT. Today was Ngoc's first time to the Delta wetland sites. It was sunny and warm and cirrus clouds overhead and a cool breeze. The inlet was on when we arrived. The staff gauge read 58cm.

I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG data. There was only 1 photo on the Canon SD card, but the picam photos looked complete. I changed the eddy clock +45sec around 13:30 PST to match the laptop time and restarted logging. Ngoc cleaned flux and rad sensors.

The water level sensor has been NAN in the past few days. I cycled its power but nothing changed. I tried to talk to it over the LoggerNet Terminal Emulator on two different C ports, but there was no response. This sensor is probably dead. I'll have to see if we have any replacement sensors in the lab. I'm not sure where the current sensor is installed, maybe in a well by the boardwalk north of the tower? That boardwalk is heavily overgrown with willows and reeds.

While I was playing around with the water level sensor, the 12V power died and then came back on. I thought maybe something was shorting out the 12V pluggable power strip, so I unplugged everything. I plugged the datalogger power in first, and then power again flickered. I think the problem was the DC-DC converter between the 24V and 12V power strips. One of the wires in the screw terminal had a bad connection--the wire was to the side of the screw instead of underneath it. I fixed the wire and the power seemed stable. I plugged everything back in and restarted the Canon camera.

We left at 15:10 PDT.
