Summary: Standard data collection, Cows were being removed from the land, too bright for the Jaz.

Sophie Ruehr and I arrived at about 15:10 PDT. It was sunny and hot and dry but a nice breeze made it bearable. The grass here is mostly yellow already but the water hole is still nearly full. I met the cow rancher, Gib, as he drove past our site. He was taking the cows off the land. Said that if he left them much longer there would be no grass for them next year.

Sophie again did the well and soil moisture and also the grass height â€“ Thanks Sophie!

I collected the data. The radiometers were mostly clean. I left the electric fence off since the cows are leaving.

I tried to do spectra with the Jaz but it was complaining that the reference was too bright. I tried to set the integration time to its lowest value (840usec?) but that produced a chunky looking spectrum. We have seen this problem in previous years at times with high light. The Jaz is an obsolete product so not much chance to get it serviced.
