Summary: Rain coming, Standard fieldwork, did not go to pond, swapped Arable units.

I arrived at about 13:00. It was mostly clear, sunny and warm but clouds were moving in from the southwest â€“ rain is forecast for tomorrow and most of next week. The road was dry as was the waterhole. The grass is just hanging on probably getting enough dew to stay alive.

I collected the data and the FD data, did the soil moisture and measured the well. I did not go to the pond today. I also took some JAZ spectra but the clouds were blocking the sun by that time so the light might be a little unstable.

The 7500 read: 426.8ppm CO2, 268.3mmol/m3 H2O, 20.0C, 99.7kPa, 100.0ss

I swapped the Arable Mark I unit for a new Mark II unit: sn A001353 came off and sn C006160 went on. The Mark IIâ€™s have a different power connector than the Mark Iâ€™s so I had to open the breakout box for the wind vane to swap out the power cable too. The new unit seemed to boot correctly and both the new Mark II and the older Mark II had all green lights when I left. Some of the Mark IIs we installed for the Planet Labs project seemed to interfere with each otherâ€™s communications but that wasnâ€™t apparent here. I thought these antennas look a little different.

I cleaned the radiometers.

The neighbors to the south were out cutting some trees that had fallen for fire wood.
