Summary: Recent rains, standard fieldwork, hungry cows, nailed pond pressure conduit to the ground

I arrived at 9:20. It was clear sunny and cool with no wind. There was rain the day before and the ground and grass are wet but the ground is still hard. There were some puddles on the road but no water in the water hole. The pond came up a little but the well was still low. There was fog at the coast and around Sacramento this morning. The grass is still poking along but is being held in check by the cold nights now. Itâ€™s very patchy but most 1-2cm in height.

Last time I had turned on the electrical fence because it looked like the cows were pressuring the fence and the fire danger was reduced by recent rains. This time the electrical gate hook was on the ground. I hope a cow got shocked in the process of knocking it loose.

I measured the well, the two Moisture Point profiles and collected the data. No issues found. I cleaned the radiometers. Lots of water beading on the Mark II sensor strip.

I double check that the Stardot clock was accurate.

Lots of cows came to see if I would feed them on my way to the pond. At the pond I straighten out the conduit to the pressure sensor and nailed it to the ground with five of the heavy rebar stakes. The cows have been kicking it about some.

I left at about 10:30
