Sherman Barn: 2020-02-20 13:20:00 (DOY 51)
Author: Joe Verfaillie
Others: Daphne, Robert
Summary: Some very green spots, some not so green spots, standard fieldwork
Sherman Barn 2020-02-20 Daphne, Robert and I arrived at 13:20. It was sunny and mild with high thin clouds. The grass to the south of the tower is tall and green with the taller patch looking like they were pushed over by the wind. To the north of the tower the grass is short and yellow or nearly absent. The higher and drier areas seem to be green and lush and the lower wetter areas seem to be yellow and short. We saw this in other fields too – drier areas might be warmer? Daphne collected the data and Robert cleaned the sensors. The 7500 read: 430ppm CO2, 350mmol/m3 H2O, 19.1C, 102.1kPa, 100.7SS The 7700 read: 201ppm CH4, 11RSSI – 78 after cleaning. The wash reservoir was full which is a little odd with the RSSI being so low. The 7700 was tilted to the south by strong winds - straightened. I measured the well level at 3.15ft (96.0cm). The well water smelled like cow poop and seemed to conduct electricity well because I had to turn the sensitivity of the well sensor down. I also measured spectra moving from lush green grass to nearly bare soil. I measured veg height over the same transect. We left at 13:40 |
