Sherman Wetland - Temporary Tower

Dennis, Joe, Alex, Robert and I arrived around 13:00. It was mostly sunny and cool. We had dismantled the East Pond tower in the morning and brought the same scaffolding and sensors to set up for a temporary tower in Sherman Wetland. We drive along a low levee road to the site and need to back out because the road is not wide enough to turn around. I left around 15:00 to pick up Ari from MB where she was collecting water samples and came back around 16:00.

This temporary tower is upwind of our permanent tower, and we tried to pick a location that had a higher veg-to-open-water ratio than at the permanent tower. The tower is set up on the west side of the levee road, with the solar panels about 10 m to the north. The wetland is all brown and most of the reeds have been blown down, except for some clumps of brown cattail. We restarted the picam and refilled the wash reservoir.

There is no water under the tower right now.

LI-7500 readings:
CO2 416ppm
H2O 491ppm
T 18.1C
P 102.6kPa
SS 101 after cleaning
LI7700 readings:
CH4 2.21ppm
RSSI 71 after cleaning

Lat/Long: 38.035276, -121.768641
Veg height: It was an even distribution between knocked down veg (50 cm height), mid-height clumps (150 cm height), and tall clumps (~300 cm height). So, the average veg height is 150 cm, but it’s quite heterogenous.

Some sensor location measurements:

Tower height: 436 cm from middle of sonic to soil
Sonic-7500 distance: 27.5 cm
Sonic-7700 distance: 23 cm
7700 towards sonic orientation: 298 degrees
7500 towards sonic orientation: 274 degrees
Sonic orientation: 29 deg true N (measured 2020-02-06 as average between the compass and Camilo's phone)
Staff gauge water level: 0 cm (dry)
Water sensor reading: 0.72 psi
Top of well to water surface: 121 cm
Top of well to water level sensor: 150 cm

This site needs:
-bolt for staff gauge brackets
-nut for 4-way radiometer narrow u-bolt
-turnbuckle + chain for fence post
-measure sonic orientation
-measure veg height

We left around 17:15.
