Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, Ariane inspected outlets, LAI from boardwalk
2019-10-02 West Pond Camilo, Ariane, and I arrived at 11:45 PDT. It was a sunny, clear, and warm day. We could hear many different birds. The water level was 56 cm. The wetland was about 20% brown. The inlet was on, but no water was flowing, so we left it as is. Ariane went to look at the outlets and measure the water level. East outlet’s water level was at the top of the boards (WCD: 50 cm), and west outlet had water flowing over the boards (WCD: > 48 cm). There were differences in the water level downstream, which were 73 and 50 cm at east and west outlet, respectively. The riser weir at the east outlet leaks. For next time, Ariane is planning to install a couple of staff gauges to monitor water level at the outlets during field visits. Camilo cleaned flux and rad sensors. I took 1-wand LAI from the boardwalk by the zcam facing south. I used the 45 deg view cap. I took samples to the "north" by facing the opening of the view cap toward the north (WP1002 for data and WP1002SN for scattering). I took samples to the south by facing the opening of the view cap toward the south (WP1002-S for data and WP1002SS for scattering). I will see if this makes a difference, because the sun is mostly shining from the south. Thinking about it more back in the lab, I don't think the "north" direction has good data because it's mostly seeing the air over the boardwalk. I downloaded met, cam, USB, and zcam data. I removed this USB from the field cycle b/c it has consistently had some corrupted files in the past few months. The wash reservoir was mostly full; we topped it off. LI-7500 readings: CO2 401ppm H2O 405ppm T 22.7C P 101.7kPa SS 95--> 98 after cleaning LI7700 readings: CH4 2.07ppm RSSI 41--> 73 after cleaning We left at 12:30 PDT. |
