Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, swap 7500, install eosGP CO2 sensor, Licor time off by 30 min, Veg surveys with Sophie
2018-04-19 East End We arrived at 12:15. It was sunny and breezy with low puffy clouds. The wetland is still mostly brown, with some green plants around the edges. The water level also looks a little higher than last time. We installed an eosGP CO2 sn GP20140019 sensor in the well and wired it to the mux. It was annoying to connect the sensor into the power strip; I’d like to install a pluggable power strip here eventually. Afterwards, most (but not all) of the met #s were NAN. Power-cycling the CR1000 did not help. Under LoggerNet>Connect>File Control, I stopped and then restarted the program. Afterwards, the met numbers looked fine. I collected met, camera, USB GHG, and miniDOT data. Sam cleaned the flux and rad sensors. The wash reservoir was empty; Sam refilled it. We swapped LI-7500A: sn 75H-2669 came down, sn 0073 went up. I updated the configuration file, pressure coefficients, and reset the box. I also changed the LI-7550 name from AIU-0397 to EE-0397. The time was off by about half an hour: when the time was 12:35, I changed it to 12:09. LI-7500 readings (sn 2669 --> sn 73) CO2 419ppm --> 420 H2O 497ppm --> 400 T 19.4C --> 20.1 P 101.7 kPa --> 101.7 SS 102 --> 102 LI7700 readings: CH4 2.0ppm RSSI 38 --> 73 after cleaning Kyle, Elke, Alex, and Sophie arrived and started their veg surveys in EE shortly before we left. We left at 13:10. Veg surveys: We conducted allometric vegetation measurements following Sophie's protocol at East End and West Pond. For East End, we followed two transects moving west from the tower, one transect started slightly to the south-west of the tower, the second transect started to the north-west of the tower. Each transect went out for 100m and we took measurements every 10m. Both transects were supposed to run approximately parallel, but walking through the thick vegetation it was not always possible to follow that exact course and they ended up converging slightly towards the end. |
