Bouldin Corn
2017-08-09

Elke, Kyle, Ada and I arrived about 9:20. It was clear, sunny and warm with a light breeze, stifling inside the corn. The corn is tall, flowering and has ears.

Kyle and Ada did veg height and biomass measurements and collections. Ada did LAI with the two wand LIA-2200 setup. She did the LAI along the south edge of the field that might be a little sparser compared to the main portion of the field.

I mounted a short post to the top of the southeast corner of the scaffolding. This post allowed the tipping bucket to be mounted a little higher and more level. It also allowed me to move the diffuse PAR RSB from the northeast corner where it was pointing east to the southeast corner where it is now pointing shout. This fixes a problem where evening sunlight was sneaking past the shadow band. The tipping bucket had a dozen medium size dead beetles on the screen. I tipped it once in cleaning it.

I also moved the box holding the CR10X for the diffuse PAR RSB so the cables reached the new sensor location. I still need a power connector for the 10X and untangle the power cable that is now snarled due to the move.

The 7700 wash reservoir was full and the RSSI was 3. Auto washing is not happening. The wash settings seemed fine. The manual wash and spin button resulted in a twitch of the mirror and some droplets of water expelled from the wash head then nothing. The software also locked up. We cycled the power on the 7700 and tried again with the same results. We will contact Licor for help.

Elke collected the data and camera images.

The 7500 read: 392.53ppm CO2, 724.3mmol/m3, 22.5C, 100.94kPa, 98.9SS – 100.55 after cleaning
The 7700 read: 1.48ppm CH4, 3.6RSSI – 1.9ppm CH4, 76RSSI after cleaning

Elke knocked down the weeds around the power post and box.

Just as we were leaving, Tyler texted asking us to restart their Picarro. The combo for their box is 131.

We left about 10:20
