Summary: Measure leaf water potentials, replace broken heaters on trees.
| WHO: Nancy Kiang, Jianwu Tang (grad student in Ye Qi's lab) WHERE: Tonzi Ranch WHEN: Overnight at Tonzi Ranch 10/10-11/2001. WEATHER: Mid-80's F. Uneven overcast on 10/10. WHAT: Measure pre-dawn leaf water potentials. Replace broken heaters on trees 245, 248, 252. Read dendrometer bands. Jianwu Tang measured soil respiration. Arrived ~8:30 pm PST. Clear night, ~55 F. Mild day ~80 F. LEAF WATER POTENTIALS Measured pre-dawn leaf water potentials starting 3:30 am PST. Tank pressure limit was 1200 psi = -70 bar. One leaf exuded water at the limit of -70 bar and all others showed no water at the limit, therefore we had to assume the water potentials were at < -70 bar. The large supply tank pressures were both down to 900 psi, therefore not high enough pressures to read mid-day water potentials, so we did not measure mid-day water potentials. Battery at 12.27 V. |
