Summary: Moved the portable tower from High Veg to Low Veg, collected data and water, swapped portable 7500, new baby caterpillars.

I arrived with Sara about 2pm. It was clear and hot with almost no wind. The areas affected by the caterpillars are brown in contrast to areas that didn’t have caterpillars. Also, at the permanent tower there seems to be a new batch of baby caterpillars munching on the cattails. It may be that only one of the two species on cattails it attacked by the caterpillars.

We moved the Portable tower from the High Veg site to the Low Veg site. Both sites had very low water. I made marks on the tripod legs in blue for the High Veg site settings. The Low Veg settings were a little different when I used a level to check it.

We swapped the 7500 – sn 75H-2176 came off and sn 0065 went on. After swapping the head the 7550 reported the 7700 being out of sync. Restarting the system fixed it.

The 7500 read: 393ppm CO2, 440mmol/m3 H2O, 90SS, 101.03kPa, 37.7C
After the swap the readings were the same except for SS that is now 74.

The 7700 read: 2.05ppm CH4, 61.6RSSI, 72 after cleaning.

Sara took water samples and added a new bracket for the 10X data logger box that hopefully will make it easier to install.

At the permanent site we collected data and water samples. In collecting the data I pulled the USB drive without pushing the eject button. This probably caused the new USB drive not to initialize properly. I had to reset the 7550 box to get the USB drive to work.

I cleaned our 7700 mirrors but didn’t right down the numbers. I cleaned some cobwebs and cattail fluff from the Ameriflux system.

Sara took water samples and cleaned the water sensors.
