Summary: New inlet constructed but not running. Water level at tower low. Ants still in Met box, need more putty to reseal.

West Pond
2013-10-02

We arrived around 14:40 PDT. It was sunny, warm, and calm. Laurie went to collect water samples while Joe, Pascal and I attended to the tower and downloaded data. A new inlet has been constructed near the old, but neither was running. The water level at the tower was low, just barely exposing the CO2 probe.

The ants are still in the Met box and still active around the Soil CO2 circuit board, but arent actively laying their eggs behind the propped up board. Well bring an air can and more putty next week to blow out the ants and better seal the opening where the wires enter the box.

7500 readings:
CO2 = 383 ppm (400 after cleaning)
H2O = 360 mmol m-3 (310 after cleaning)
signal strength = 76.3% (82.2% after cleaning)
t = 27.4 C
p = 101.5 kPa
sos = 349.3 m s-1

7700 readings:
CH4 = 2.05 ppm (1.99 ppm after cleaning)
RSSI = 24 (75 after cleaning)
Reservoir was 2/3 full.

MET looked good.
