Summary: Moved tower west ~10 m into field. Flooding working its way to the tower. Reinstalled ground sensors. Left wooden box open to get rid of critters. Initialized but aborted rain gauge test.
| Twitchell Rice 2013-10-16 We arrived about 11:25 PDT. It was sunny, warm (21 C) and calm. The field is a bed of golden straw with a sprinkling of green shoots. Flooding of the field has begun, but only the north end of field 1 had visible standing water. We moved the tower west about 10 m, into the rice field. The radiation boom was over the swath of cattails in front of the tower and unrepresentative of the footprint. After moving the tower we reinstalled all ground sensors and moved the rain gauge bucket also into the field (the cable wouldnt reach otherwise). We moved the serial and Ethernet cable connections to the logger box on the tower and left open the doors of the wooden box to encourage all the critters to move out. We initialized a rain gauge test but ended up aborting it to move the tower. Make sure to delete the rain measured from the test. 7500 readings: CO2 = 399 ppm (420 after cleaning) H2O = 450 mmol m-3 (370 after cleaning) signal strength = 84.0% (87.6% after cleaning) t = 22.4 C p = 102.4 kPa sos = 346.0 m s-1 7700 readings: CH4 = 2.1 ppm (2.2 after cleaning) RSSI = 21% (53% after cleaning) |
