Summary: Inlet running at low flow, no water under tower. Ant problem nearly gone. Took instrument orientation measurements. Veg height approaching tower height.

We arrived around 12:20 PDT. It was sunny, windy, and cool (20 C). The inlet was running at low flow and there was no water under the tower. Sara and Yanel took water samples (Sara: Actually water levels were too low to take water samples so we didnt take any that week) and attended to the ants in the 7550 box while I checked the data and took some instrument orientation measurements. The ant problem is almost completely resolved, there are only a few stragglers left. Sara and Yanel blew out many of them with compressed air and replaced the ant baits.

Instrument orientation measurements:
Height to middle of sonic: 4.64 m from muck layer.
Sonic orientation (+x direction): 338 N (magnetic)
Laterally from mid-sonic to mid-7500: 18 cm @ 333 N (magnetic)
Laterally from mid-sonic to mid-7700: 28 cm @ 30 N (magnetic)

The vegetation in the footprint varies from 3-4 m high (above muck layer), some of the tallest tules are near the tower and nearly touch the instrument boom. On average, the flux instruments are then only 0.64-1.64 m above the vegetation. Raising this tower would be difficult owing to the fact that its on a scaffold.

7500 readings:
CO2 = 385 ppm (same after cleaning)
H2O = 600 mmol m-3 (same after cleaning)
signal strength = 87.06% (87.99% after cleaning)
t = 21.2 C
p = 101.08 kPa
sos = 345.8 m s-1

7700 readings:
CH4 = 1.88 ppm (same after cleaning)
RSSI = 40, bumped to 82 after cleaning
Reservoir was full.
