Summary: CONSTRUCTION SITE Power went out briefly day after we set up the tower, one battery boiled over - refilled with DI, CFM card took a long time to format.

DWR-Corn Construction
2013-05-24

We arrived about 14:00 PDT to clean the flux instruments and download data. The field was disked recently. Some construction activity was visible in the distance but nothing heavy near the tower. It was warm with a gusty wind.

There were only a few pictures on the camera card and it looked as if one of the batteries boiled over extensively, causing a power outage. However, the flux data was recording when we arrived so we may not have lost too much data other than the pics. We refilled the battery with DI water and rinsed the acid spill. We pulled the water pressure sensor since it was not being used.

The 7500 read 250AGC, 14.70mmol/m3 CO2 and 576mmol/m3 H2O before cleaning. After cleaning the 7500 read 249AGC, 16.5mmol/m3 CO2 and 230mmol/m3 H2O.

The CFM card took a really long time to format (~30min). Time to throw out that card?

The solar panels need cleaning.

We should also change the met program to exclude missing ground sensors. We need to measure the instruments heights, headings and check the scaffolding level.
