Summary: Tram not running - restarted, installed 4-band and diffuse radiometers, change tower cr1000 program, standard field work

I arrived about 10am with Siyan. It was warm, clear and sunny with little to no breeze. The grass and trees are so green and there are lots of flowers. There is standing water in the low spot of the road again. The ground is damp just below the surface. I would say the trees are about 70% leafed out. The grass seems healthier than last time and maybe twice as tall. We had a good view of the sierras on the way up and could see Rancho Seco, Diablo and the costal range from the top of the tower. There were quite a few tips of branches on the ground like a strong wind had broken the tips off.

The tram was topped near the far end of the track when we got there. The data collected stopped around 6:30pm on the day we set it up. However, after resetting the tram it ran twice with no problems while we were there. I forgot to turn the cow fence back on.

I worked on adding the new 4-band radiometer and diffuse PAR sensor to the top of the tower. I wired up the AM16/32 that was installed in the box a while back. The first four channels are the 4-band NR01, the next eight channels are the LED sensor which I moved from the last eight single ended channels on the 23x, and finally two more channels from the diffuse PAR. All are now differential measurements. I moved the Pyranometer, NR-Lite and system voltage from differential channels 4 and 5 and single ended channel 12 to differential channels 9 and 10 and single ended channel 24. This was to make room for the NR01 PRT next to the excitation channels. There was another single ended wire in SE 11 that was part of a cable also connect to 5V and G. This cable went down the big conduit on the south west corner of the tower. I couldnt find anything in the code that references SE11 so I disconnected this wire.

I downloaded all the data and uploaded a new program to reflect the wiring changes and added instruments. I also removed a measurement of the non-existent rain bucket. The rain bucket was move to the soil CO2 system long ago.

The new sensors are mounted on the radiation boom. The NR01 is next to the existing NR-Lite. The diffuse PAR is on top of the plate with the pyranometer. All the cables were run through split loom to protect them from the sun. The old cable all need to be replaced because they are crack due to sun damage.

I also sent a new program to the CR1000. I removed the card and then sent the new program that uses the sonic clock to drive the program. This should reduce the number of reading lost due to poor clock synchronization. When the new program was running well I inserted a new card.

Siyan did the standard fieldwork and cleaned the windows of the z-cam.

I did not get a chance to free up space on the tower computer.
