Summary: Fixed serial connection for soil CO2 system, removed Pyranometer for repair.

2012-07-10 I arrived about 9:00. It was clear, sunny and warm with a little puff of breeze from the west. I didn’t notice the water level in the water hole. The grasses are a beautiful golden yellow and the trees are still very green. But I had an impression that the leaves on the out most edges were a slightly different shade of green. Leaf angle? Lots and lots of grasshoppers around. Siyan was correct. The computer was able to connect to the soil CO2 data logger. I moved the serial adapter to a USB port on the back of the computer to help keep the cable out of the way. The computer restarted when the power plug came loose. I re-plugged it and hopefully locked it in this time. I setup Loggernet to display and download the data from the soil CO2 system and setup a scheduled task to rename the data files daily. I removed the Pyranometer (sn 996980) from the tower and put a jumper on the channel one of the AM16/32 to zero out the channel. There was significant water in both domes, and the cable is cracking. The other radiometer cables also looked sun worn and brittle. They will probably be okay as long as they don’t move. I cleaned the window on the Phenocam but it didn’t seem too dirty. The specs in the image might be on the lens or even on the inside of the lens. I think there is enough of an overlap with the old webcam now that the old webcam can be removed. I put silicon in open ports in the solar charge controller box and the soil CO2 box to try and keep the bugs out. |
