Summary: Met Frank, Andy and Mike to install mercury trailer, swapped card and collected data. Finally got soil co2 relay working.

I arrived about 9:30 with Sara. Andy Lincoff Lincoff.Andy@epamail.epa.gov was there with the EPA mercury trailer and Frank and Michael T Tate mttate@usgs.gov (from Wisconsin) arrived just behind us.

It was clear, sunny and warm with a light, gusty breeze from the northwest. The field is wet, the ditches are full and there is standing water to the west. Today may be a little less wet than what I saw on the way to Tonzi last Friday. The pepper weed and grasses a very dense outside the cow fence and even denser inside. The pepper weed is beginning to flower and I could smell the pollen in the air.

When we got there the LGR read:
9:55PDT, 22.90C, 134.92Torr, 15.208usec, 10Hz, 1.920ppm

I did not adjust the bypass valve.

The EPS mercury trailer went in the extreme northwest corner of the cow fence. We ran the existing spare 20A AC line from the gate to the trailer, but the mercury system will use more than 20A. It has two heaters that run at 500 and 800 degrees. Frank went to the store to get parts for a second 20A line. He was going to put in another breaker and run both lines in conduit from the power poll to the cow fence. I think our system should restart after the power goes down to add the breaker. The 12VDC stuff should run on the car battery for a while without line power.

I swapped the card on the CR1000 but forgot to remove the old files on the card. I was able to use Campbell’s file management program to delete the old files and reloading the CR1000 program otherwise setup the card for use.

We collected data and images.

We finally got the power relay working for one set of the Vaisala probes. We swapped the cr10X power supply for the newer non-isolating one and this did not solve the problem. I ended up rewiring the relay circuit to drive the relay directly with the CR10x’s switched 12V port instead of using the transistor to drive it with a control port. This seemed to work and we watched one cycle of power by resetting the clock. We accidently bumped the clock on the CR1000 too, so there will be a bobble in that data.

We did not go to Mayberry today.
