2011-12-20 I arrived about 11:30PST with Dennis. It was still cold (~2C) and foggy, but the fog was lifting. There was little to no wind. Walt has begun to feed the cows near our site, and the cows were standing near the gate when we arrived. The water level in the ditch along the road is almost empty. The weeds and grass in the field are almost completely dead. All was running. I collected soil CO2 data for Sara to check the new probes. The on screen values looked okay. Dennis reseated the soil heat flux plates installing number 2 in the ground just outside the cow fence just to the east of the radiometers. There is a much thicker layer of litter inside the cow fence. SHF 1 is to the west of the tower and SHF 3 is to the east of the tower and is one of the self-calibrating kind. The red label on #3 is coming loose. I cleaned the radiometers. |
