Summary: Installed new fence charger, swapped LI7500, swapped autocam, Installed three more Vaisala CO2 sensors, swapped resistors on low two existing Vaisala CO2 sensors.
| Sherman 2011-12-14 I arrived about 10:30 with Sara and Silvano. It was clear and sunny with little to no wind. The air was cool, but I warmed up quickly in the sun and was comfortable in a t-shirt. The bigger weeds are all brown and the Bermuda grass id yellowing. There were bales of corn stalks on the road and I think they are feeding the cows at the west end of the field. The water level in the ditch next to the road was very low. There was fur on some of the barbed wire fence around the site and it looks like the cows are beginning to push on the fencing. I installed the AC fence charger in the box. I pulled the power line for the old soil moisture set and used it to run the charger to the fence. The hot wire runs south from the box to the fence. The ground runs just outside of the box to a fence post I drove into the ground near the box. The charger seemed to work but you have to be careful about opening the fence and unplugging the charger inside the box to kill the fence. I swapped the 7500 - sn 0042 went on and sn 0976 came off. sn 0042 is one of the weaker IRGAs its AGC is about 72 and seems to make more noise than the rest. I swapped the autocam. The original one was off again and it is the one that has problems extending and retracting the lens. The computer was off and beeping when we arrived, but it booted up just fine when I restarted it. Maybe power went out but data was complete up until the morning of the day before. Sara installed three more Vaisala sensors at 2, 8, and 16cm. They all seemed to be working. She also changed resistors on the two deeper existing sensors to bring then within range of the data logger. |
