Sherman Island: 2011-10-20 10:00:00 (DOY 293)
Author: Jaclyn Hatala
Others: Sara Knox

Summary: Removed old Vaisala probes

Arrived at the Sherman pasture with Sara about 10am. Light winds from the southwest, and temperature warming (17C). Cows are in the far northwest field outside the tower footprint. All looked well in the data, but Pressure seemed weird (2273?) but maybe these are in different units. Downloaded turbulence, met, and digital photo data.

Sara worked on getting the equipment ready to replace the Vaisala probes with the new ones she calibrated in the lab. We tried very hard, but the soil is still too dry to use the small corer (the one the size of the probe PVC pipe), so she's going to wait until a few more rains to install them. She pulled out all the old probes and thermocouples and brought them back to the lab, so that the box is ready for the new ones.

Jaclyn measured soil moisture with the MoisturePoint (the profiles are starting to increase in moisture) and measured well depths (water table about 60cm). Couldn't take spectral measurements since the white field laptop batteries were totally drained - we need to find a solution to this in the lab so that it's powered up for fieldwork.
