Mayberry: 2011-09-15 09:15:00 (DOY 258)
Author: Joe Verfaillie
Others: Jaclyn, Sara

Summary: Extended tule TCs but not connected, fixed tule radiation boom bent since at least 9/10, installed open water TSc, collected data, swapped LI7500.

I arrived about 9:15PST with Jaclyn and Sara. It was warm and sunny with a good breeze from the west. Weeds have shot up all around the tower and maybe even some new cattails to the south of the tower. The tules may be starting to die back - more look bent over and browning. The water level is pretty much unchanged. An amazing number of dragonflies.

We continued to work on moving sensors to the new scaffolding. Jaclyn and Sara extended a bunch of the tule thermocouples, but we didn?t get the connected to the data logger.

I added a new mount for the tule radiation boom that twisted back and down in the wind. I also added the Tule IRT after lengthening the cable in the lab and connected it to the data logger. I added a mount for the incoming PAR, but did not get it moved to the new mount. A new mount for the open water radiation boom is there but not installed yet, however that boom is still okay in its temporary mounting. I added a set of three rewired thermocouples and installed both of the open water TC profiles at the correct depth.

The open soil heat flux plate with repaired wire is in the data logger box, but not hooked up or installed.

We collected data. The LI7700 RSSI was low about 13 before cleaning. The lower mirror was very dusty and the wash reservoir was empty. After cleaning RSSI was about 78. The tower and other equipment looked unusually dirty.

The auto cam was off again. I need a better 3.3V supply for it and maybe power it from the main batteries.

We swapped the LI7500 sn 0035 on and sn 0065 off.

We washed the solar panels.

Jaclyn collected soil cores for Emily.
