| Just catching up on last week's things to do list. Here are the notes that I took after speaking with Jim Casey last Wednesday, 5/11:
Field 1 had trouble with germination on about 20% of the field. The plan was to flash irrigate for 5 days to wet the field. Too bad they couldn't predict the weather, there has probably been enough rain in the last two days to help the germination. Jim was not expecting to put enough water on the field to have it drain into the ditches. Here are the YSI readings from the water being applied to field #1, ~1230 PST: Temp: 18.53 C Specific Conductance: 681 uS/cm or ~360 ppm pH: 7.01 ORP: 131.7 Turbidity: 40.9 (probably high due to the turbulent flow of water) DO: 5.08 mg/L DO%: 54.2 There was an applied starter fertilizer with the seed planting: Fert # 11520. The application rates for both seed and starter fertilizer was 100 lbs/acre. The crossover construction near field 12 was set for completion this week, however, I don't know what the rain will do to those plans. I have cc'd both Jim and Sandra to this email, in hopes they can shed more light on a completion time and make sure I have not screwed up the notes. |
