Summary: Regular data collection and site maintenance | Recon with USDA-ARS for fiber optical temperature sensor deployment
Daphne, Joe, and I arrived at 09:30 PST. It was sunny, cool, and breezy. The water level was low, and we did not take any staff gauge and surface conductivity readings. Nicolas from USDA ARS also visited the site with us to discuss deployment logistics for fiber optical temperature sensors. These new sensors measure water temperature at 10-cm intervals, allowing us to better understand the water heat storage. As Nicolas arrived, I gave him an overview of the site and we discussed logistics in terms of adding this type of sensor at Hill Slough. Additionally, we cleaned the MET sensors. Daphne collected the flux, met, and camera data. Sonic rangefinder data was bad since mid Dec. It was flooded and everything was corroded, but Joe cleaed it and resoldered it. Additionally, Joe 1) fixed the bottom latch of the logger enclosure at the channel station; and 2) replaced the motor for shadow band. Due to low tide, we did not take any surface conductivity, but recorded porewater conductivity. Porewater, 6.78mS, 12.0C 7500 read: 475pm CO2, 350mmol/m3 H2O, 12.4 C, 102.5kPa, 102SS—103 after cleaning 7700 clean read: 4.07ppm CH4, 38RSSI — 89 after cleaning Pending items: 1) Add split-loom to radiometer cables (1/4") 2) Add plug to ppt 3) New plywood for lower boardwalk 4) NaNs (or -9999) for TC23 and TC24 |
