I arrived at about 13:30 PST. It was clear and sunny with little to no breeze. It has not rained since early January and some of the hills on the way up looked like they had brown spots. The grass here was yellowed on the tips but hard to know if this is lack of water or cold. The pond had been a little higher and has retreated a small amount. The ground was moist below the surface, but there were no puddles on the road.

I added the Ameriflux cell modem sn 5A0331744701B101 to the box at the top of the tower. I connected its power-on lead to the switched 12V port of the CR1000 that controls the phenocam. It should only pull full power during the day. I was able to get internet access and set the LattePanda up for remote desktop – Daphne was able to connect from the lab. I also ran a new Ethernet line from the top of the tower to the bottom. The existing one was not working. I didn’t have a chance to remove the old one.

I collected flux, met, camera, well and FD data – all seemed well. The IRT battery is dying again. I made its solar panel less flat and hope to catch a few more winter time rays. A lithium power pack might be a solution.

There were some spider webs on the Tower eddy sensors that I lowered the post to clean off.

I did soil moisture, DBH, and manual well measurements.

I removed the battery and solar panel sn T21009229B43579 from the OSU SP1 system – the battery had died a while back (looked better recently though) and the solar panel doesn’t get much sun. I ran a new 24V power line in conduit from the charge controller box. There is a DC-DC converter in the OSU SP2 box.

I was supposed to replace the clock battery in zcam-1 but lost the battery somewhere along the way. I was also supposed to clean the phenocam window but put that off too.

I left at about 17:00
