Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, Manuela visiting, removed soil moisture probes, 7700 optics RH lower today

Hill Slough

Dennis, Carlos, Manuela and I arrived at 9:05 PST. This was Manuela's first time to the Delta and I think her first time seeing eddy covariance towers. It was surprisingly calm. Water level was low and tide was still going out. It was sunny when we arrived but later thin high clouds moved overhead. The staff gauge read 4.36ft at 9:28.

The 7700 optics RH was down to 20%, which means all the work Joe did last time to use putty as an impromptu o-ring and replacing the desiccant paid off to dry down the headspace. I had brought a spare o-ring and new desiccant to swap, but decided to just wait since it seems ok now.

I downloaded met, cam, USB GHG, and miniDOT data. I changed the desiccant for the miniDOT and water level sensor. Dennis and Manuela cleaned the rad and flux sensors. We swapped the broken 7500 bird spike for a new one. We topped off the wash reservoir.

Carlos got in the water to remove the soil moisture sensors sn 17130 and sn 17131. The site has been tidal for a few months now and the soil stays saturated throughout the tide cycles, so the soil moisture sensors aren’t telling us much. I forgot to change the program to remove the soil moisture sensors--next time.

LI-7500 readings:
CO2 473
H2O 230
T 11.5C
P 102.3kPa
SS 93--> 100 after cleaning
LI7700 readings:
CH4 2.3ppm
RSSI 35 --> 72 after cleaning

We left at 10:15 PST.

Looking at the data back in the lab, there doesn’t seem to be enough resolution in the water temperature data from the HYDRO21. Maybe it also needs to be save in IEEE4 format. I don’t remember seeing this same issue at GT though.
