Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, confirmed HMP serial number, chatted with exiting hunters, cable gate fixed
2022-02-03 Mayberry Dennis, Carlos, Manuela and I arrived at 14:15 PST after stopping by the Twitchell Island pumphouse for lunch. From the lunch spot, we could see and hear several sea lions hanging out on the buoy or in the water by the buoy in the San Joaquin River. This was Manuela's first time to the Delta and I think her first time seeing eddy covariance towers. It was mostly sunny and mild with a gentle breeze. On our way to the site, we passed 3 of the duck hunters leaving for the season—one was towing a trailer. They said there weren’t many ducks this year. A little better on Webb Tract. The sagging southern post on the cable gate was fixed so the cable is taut. There’s still no lock on the middle post, but it doesn’t matter because the cable is taut. The staff gauge read 56 cm. (Note by Daphne 2022-10-27: Original field note said staff gauge read 66cm, but I compared it to the water level sensor. This data point was about 10cm above the water level sensor, and so I concluded I probably misread the staff gauge and that it was 56cm, not 66cm). I downloaded met, camera, and USB GHG data. I downloaded the miniDOT data and swapped its desiccant. I also downloaded the picam photos but forgot to get the photos from the Stardot camera. Carlos and Manuela cleaned flux and rad sensors. We topped off the wash reservoir. Carlos check serial number on the HMP sensor on the tower and confirmed that it was sn T2820180 even though the cable says T2820183. I crossed out the serial number on the cable to avoid this confusion in the future. There were many ants in the white connector cover on the HMP cable; he tried his best to get rid of them before sliding the cover back up. LI-7500 readings: CO2 411 ppm H2O 334 umol/mol T 17.0C P 101.7kPa SS 100 --> 101 LI7700 readings: CH4 1.95 RSSI 70 --> 84 after cleaning We left at 14:45. |
