Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, swapped 7500 for calibration, calibrated 7700, sheep and lambs on the levee road
2021-05-26 West Pond Dennis, Robert, and I arrived at 12:20 PDT. It was a sunny, warm, and breezy day. The inlet was off. The staff gauge read 38cm. I collected met, camera, and USB GHG data. Robert cleaned flux and rad sensors. The wash reservoir was full. We calibrated LI-7700 sn TG1-0421 with 2 AMP tanks. The Zero cal gas was a baby tank of N2 that Sebastien B. had dropped off to us in the lab this morning. The Span cal gas is also an AMP tank with CH4 concentration of 4.223 ppm. The zero and span were a bit farther off than I expected. The zero offset was -0.024 and the span offset was 0.043. There was also a lot of wiggle in the CH4 concentration, I think from Dennis and Robert talking and moving around on the upper boardwalk. After the calibration, we reattached the 7700 spray nozzle. We also swapped the LI-7500 for calibration: sn 0073 came off and sn 75H-2182 went on the tower. I uploaded a new configuration file, updated the pressure coefficients, and reset the box. The small silver USB that I had removed from HS had errors and was not showing as much free space as I expected. I tried the automatic “repair†option that Windows offers when it detects an external drive has errors, but that did not fix the problem. Later I reformatted the drive, which fixed the problem. There were ants in the met box; I left them some mothballs. LI-7500 readings (sn 0073 --> sn 75H-2182): CO2 415ppm --> 420 H2O 510ppm --> 400 T 26.8C --> 30.3 P 101.6kPa --> 101.6 SS 96- -> 97 after cleaning --> 99 after swap LI7700 readings: CH4 2.0ppm RSSI 61--> 80 after cleaning We left at 13:00 PDT. As we were driving past East Pond to get to East End, we ran into a big group of sheep on the levee road. I decided to u-turn and go out by the WP inlet. Two lambs got scared and ran off away from the rest of the sheep, so Dennis herded the smaller lamb back to the herd. |
