Bouldin Corn: 2020-07-21 13:30:00 (DOY 203)
Author: Daphne Szutu
Others: Joe, Tyler
Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, corn has tassels and cobbs, removed PurpleAir and AirT/RH sensors for inspection, repaired 7700 wash power cable, installed 3rd FD chamber
2020-07-21 Bouldin Corn Joe arrived around 13:30 PDT. He and Tyler dropped off the Blue box, tubing, and 2 chambers from Sherman Barn. It was a windy, mild, and partly overcast day. The corn has tassels and cobbs. I arrived at 14:50 PDT. Joe noticed that the Arable on the post in the field seemed to be leaning and were very close to the top of the corn. The ground screw has loose in the soil. He screwed it in as far as it could go and it seemed tight again. The Arables were raised about 50cm and remounted - they may be pointed a little east of south 170deg. I collected met, camera, USB GHG, zcam, and FD data. I did not clear the FD chambers after downloading. There was no PA data, so we brought the sensor sn 68c63acc07a9 back to the lab to test. Joe cleaned flux and rad sensors. I changed the desiccant for the water level sensor. The wash reservoir was mostly full, but the RSSI was low. The power connector at the wash box from the 7700 was busted and fell apart. Joe fixed cut off the connector and hard wired it inside the box with a screw terminal. We tested the wash successfully. The HMP data has been bad since 2020-07-05. The wiring looked ok but Joe thought the sensor felt warm to the touch so we brought the sensor sn L1740395 back to the lab to test. Joe installed a 3rd FD chamber in the field, sn FD20180047. He had to rob another chamber of tie downs so two chambers now have only one pair of tie downs each. I synced the phenocam clock with the laptop clock (2 minute change). The eddy clock looked good. During my last site visit, some farmers told me they would irrigate the corn soon via spud ditches, but I didn’t see any response from the water level or soil moisture sensors. Joe found the spud ditches in the corn but they were very dry. LI-7500 readings: CO2 386ppm H2O 745ppm T 26.3C P 100.3kPa SS 102-->102 after cleaning LI7700 readings: CH4 2.1ppm RSSI 7-->81 after cleaning We left at 16:30 PDT. |
